Pobl Ifanc
Hybu Pobl Ifanc is a programme for young people aged 16-18 years of age who dream of making a real difference to the lives of the people around them. Pobl Ifanc recruits new members each September to join the two year programme of volunteering. There are currently just over 100 members meeting in venues in Cardiff, Newport and Blaenau Gwent. The training is module based so participants can opt in and out throughout their membership depending on their study or work commitments.
Each module consists of two hours per week for six weeks and a certificate can be gained for completion of each topic. Modules include:
- Basic Volunteering skills
- Organising events
- Managing and delivering events
- Communication skills
- Managing Project money
Hybu Pobl Ifanc provides practical volunteering experience. The organisation is committed to raising funds for BBC Children in Need and programme participants are actively engaged in direct fundraising and organising events that not only raise money but provide fun and entertainment for local communities. This also provides experience in managing people, communication skills, problem solving and much more. Certificates are given for every block of 50 hours of volunteering. Some young people have gained evidence of more than 300 hours volunteering.
